REFLECTION

Experience

I experienced learning more about the depths of typography through this whole class for the first time. At first, I didn't think much about the typography aspects of design, turns out that there are a lot of thinking and process in order to reach the audience about not only its style but functionality. Though this was a new experience and I also had to learn using new design programs, I was able to pull through especially with the help of the lecturer's feedback that helped me improved my designs. This semester was overall a good experience and was able to help me understand further on the importance of being familiar with typography.

Observations

What I've observed throughout this week is how typography have been an essential part of human development. Without typography, how can knowledge be transferred through? Typography have long been dated since the development of alphabets, thus help humans communicate, share information and let us understand each other. Typography has eventually reached to the texts we see on screens everyday, I think the importance of typography had been downplayed when it has led to huge contributions for society to move on.

Findings

I find how typography is more than stylistic choices and being pretty. Designers could be creative however there are certain technicalities that should be kept in mind. I had also found typography to be actually interesting, it is way more than just making cute fonts or how to make certain letters look nicer when there was a whole history behind its development.
